In a pestle and mortar or an electric blender add the peanuts and the onion mixture, the tamarind chutney and lemon juice then blend with a little water to form a smooth paste. Give it a tempering of mustard seeds, hing and dry red chillies. You can add tomato and fresh coriander to this chutney as well. You can also add grated fresh coconut in this chutney.

Steps to make Peanut chutney:
  1. Heat oil in a kadhai and add peanuts and fry until slightly brown.
  2. Remove them in a plate.
  3. Add dry red chilli,ginger,garlic, onion cumin seeds in the kadhai and fry for 3-4mins.
  4. Add them in the plate with peanut.
  5. Transfer them in a grinder along with tamrind and salt.
  6. Add some water and grind to make a smooth chutney.
  7. For tempting heat oil in a pan.once oil is hot add mustard seeds, urad dal,hing and curry leaves let them crackle for few seconds.
  8. Pour the tadka over the chutney and mix it well.
  9. Serve the chutney with dosa,idli or uttapam.

You can add tomato and fresh coriander to this chutney as well. You can also add grated fresh coconut in this chutney.
