Raise the heat and bring the liquid to a simmer. Stir in the spinach, a handful at a time, allowing each addition to cook down a bit before adding another handful. Transfer the spinach mixture to the reserved saucepan with the split peas and stir to combine. Serve immediately with steamed rice, cauliflower rice or naan on the side.

  1. Take a blender add green peas and grind coarsely.
  2. Wash and chop spinach and also wash the urad dal.
  3. Take a pressure cooker add spinach,urad dal,green peas,onion,grated ginger,tomato,red chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt and pressure cook for ten mins.
  4. Once cooled,open the lid dal is mix well.
  5. Heat a pan for tempering the dal.
  6. Heat clarified butter in a pan add asafoetida,cumin seeds,black mustard seeds,cloves and whole red chilli and temper the dal.
  7. Serve hot with chapati or rice
