Steps to make Ćevapi:
- In a bowl mix together all ingredients.
- Shape mixture into sausages. Approximately 1 tablespoon per sausage.
- Refrigerate for 1 hour. Best overnight.
- Preheat your grill or pan once ready to cook.
- Grill sausages for 5 minutes per side or until golden brown.
- Serve the Ćevapi on flatbread with a sweet onion tomato sauce.
- Note: the Ćevapi we had in Split, Croatia. When in Croatia do not miss this treat.

Besides the meat, the most used spice is paprika but is considered an optional ingredient in the original recipe. The baking soda is critical, and give to the mixture more softness. Cevapi (pronounced CHAE-vap or CHAE-vap-ee) are hand-shaped, case-less sausages that are popular in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, and other countries in the Balkans/Southeastern Europe region.
