The ingredients needed to make Peanut chutney:
  1. Make ready 150 grams Raw Peanut
  2. Prepare 6-10 Red chillies depending on spice level
  3. Get 2 pieces Tamarind soaked in water for 15 minutes
  4. Take 4-5 pods Garlic
  5. Get as per taste Rock salt
  6. Take For tempering-
  7. Make ready 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  8. Make ready Few Curry leaves
  9. Get 1/2 tsp Jeera
  10. Make ready 1/2 tsp Oil
  11. Prepare 1 tsp Urad dal

In a pestle and mortar or an electric blender add the peanuts and the onion mixture, the tamarind chutney and lemon juice then blend with a little water to form a smooth paste. Give it a tempering of mustard seeds, hing and dry red chillies. You can add tomato and fresh coriander to this chutney as well. You can also add grated fresh coconut in this chutney.

Steps to make Peanut chutney:
  1. Dry roast peanuts till it is 80 percent done
  2. Add red chillies and roast the chillies. Do not burn the chillies
  3. Remove the skin of peanuts and top portion of chillies
  4. Take a mixer jar and add peanuts, chillies, garlic, tamarind and rock salt and grind
  5. Temper with mustard, urad dal, jeera and curry leaves and add to the chutney
  6. Serve hot with idly, dosa,steamed rice etc

You can add tomato and fresh coriander to this chutney as well. You can also add grated fresh coconut in this chutney. Simple peanut chutney made with peanuts, chana dal, cumin seeds, ginger and tamarind. Indian meals are often incomplete without chutney.
