To begin with this particular recipe, we must prepare a few ingredients. You can cook peanut butter fudge using 5 ingredients and 2 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Peanut Butter Fudge:
  1. Take 1 (10 oz) can of sweetened condensed milk
  2. Get 1 bag (8 oz) reeses peanut butter chocolate chips
  3. Make ready 1 tsp vanilla extract
  4. Get 1 pinch salt
  5. Take 8 inch square pan

Melt the butter in a pan over a medium heat, then stir in the soft dark brown sugar, soft light brown sugar and milk. Take off the heat, stir in the crunchy peanut butter. Beat in the icing sugar until smooth, adding extra milk if needed. We used a crunchy peanut butter to give it an interesting texture, but choose a smooth variety if you prefer your fudge silky.

Steps to make Peanut Butter Fudge:
  1. Heat sweetened condensed milk, the chocolate chips in microwave or on stove till it is melted. I use 30 second intervals in the microwave, stir, then repeat. You might have to do this 2-3 times. Then, add pinch of salt and vanilla extract.
  2. Once melted, quickly, spread evenly into wax paper lined 8-or 9-inch square pan. Make sure the sides of the wax paper comes above the pan so it is easy to pull out of the pan once cool. It will thicken up quick so make sure you spread that quickly. Cover and chill 2 hours or until firm. Turn fudge onto cutting board; peel off paper. Sprinkle with chopped peanuts or sprinkles if desired. I left plain. Cut into squares. Store leftovers covered in refrigerator.

Beat in the icing sugar until smooth, adding extra milk if needed. We used a crunchy peanut butter to give it an interesting texture, but choose a smooth variety if you prefer your fudge silky. The fudge develops a better colour and consistency if you cook it at a steady boil rather than a fierce rolling boil. It takes longer to come up to temperature but seems not to catch on the base as much. If there is one way to improve fudge in my opinion, it has to be by adding peanut butter.
