Real churros in Spain are not light and fluffy; they're like this. My husband thought it was difficult to make. Did not have a pastry bag, so I used a ziploc bag instead to pipe into oil.. Using a wooden spoon, stir in flour.

- Take 250 ml water
- Prepare 56 g unsalted butter, diced
- Get 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

- Get Vegetable oil, for frying

- Prepare 100 g granulated sugar

Bring to a boil, then add vanilla. Turn off heat and add flour and salt. Remove from heat and stir in flour. Now comes the fun part: It's time to fry the churros!
Steps to make Churros:
- Mix the water, butter, sugar and salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. In the meantime, heat the frying oil in a deep pot or skillet.
- Then, combine the flour and reduce the heat to medium-low, stirring constantly until the dough forms and is smooth
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it cool for 5 minutes. In the meantime, whisk together the sugar and cinnamon powder in a shallow dish/plate.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and stir until it smoothens.
- Transfer the dough in a piping bag with a rounded star tip and pipe it into the hot oil, cutting it every ~15cm with a pair of scissors.
- Deep fry until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side. Drain the oil on a paper towel and immediately coat it with the sugar/cinnamon mixture mentioned in step 3.
- Serve warm, with optional chocolate ganache or caramel sauce.
Remove from heat and stir in flour. Now comes the fun part: It's time to fry the churros! Repeat until the pan is full but the bites still have room to fry. Cook the churros until they're golden brown on all sides. Churros can also be found at many Mexican bakeries and on the menus of some restaurants.
