- Peel, Wash and chop onions. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter put finely chopped onions and fry till golden brown.
- Wash and Soak rice in water for 10 minutes.
- Grate tomatoes and make puree and add in cooker and saute till oil leaves the sides. Add black pepper seeds, cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon and Bay leaves and saute for 2 minutes.
- Add salt, red chilli powder, garam masala and mix. Saute for 30 seconds and add soaked rice and water and mix. Place the lid and pressure cook till 2 whistles. Switch off the flame. Let pressure releases automatically.
- Serve hot with curd or pickle.
