- In a bowl put the tamarind and add 1/2 cup warm water and keep it soaked
- Cut the Okra to 1” pieces. In a wok heat oil and add mustard seeds, when splutters add chopped onion, asafoetida and stir until translucent
- Add Sambhar powder, Turmeric powder, Red chilli powder, curry leaves and stir well. Add okra’s and stir well for 5 mins
- Strain the tamarind after deseeding and add to the Okra, add 1 cup water and cook on low flame for 7-8 mins until the okra is cooked
- Plate and enjoy with steamed rice
